Did the Pre-construction meeting over the phone since I live 4.5 hours away from where we are building. The meeting only took about an hour. We went over all of my selection and what I could expect to happen in the months to come.

….My upgrades were approved!---so I will be getting the alternative layout in the master suite and the largest deck offered for the Rome model. My expected completion date is November/ December, but I’m in no rush since I can’t really move into the house until my husband gets back. So for me, the later, the better….

So…I’ll start by saying we are FIRST TIMERs. This is our first blog and our first house!

We are a military family (dad’s currently deployedL). We started our travel journey 14 years ago when we left Baltimore, Maryland to relocate to North Carolina for 6 months then San Diego, California where we lived for almost 2 years. Our travels have taken us all over the place…we’ve lived in Warminster, Pennsylvania (right outside of Philly), Okinawa, Japan, Saint Paul, Minnesota, Jacksonville, North Carolina, and now we are moving to Charlotte (Indian Trail)!

My husband has served for over 18 years so it’s time to start planting roots and pitching our tent! We’ve decided to build a Rome model home with Ryan’s Homes in a community named Sheridan located in Indian Trail, NC.

I’ve been waiting and wanting to buy a house for soooooo long that my house search didn’t take long at all. See, I’ve been researching homes for years ---I don’t know if it was a hobby or an obsession...lol But I use to think of it as my “me time---my pleasure”—house hunting and hair stuff---DON’T GET ME STARTED ON HAIR TALK!

Anyhow…my timeline started on July 14th but we hit a couple of road bumps that delayed us a little—not much. First, it took us a little longer than usual to get our contract ratified because I needed to resign everything (I’m using a power of attorney because my husband is deployed and the documents needed to be signed in a specific way). 2) I decided not to finance with NVR—they were great but they just couldn’t beat Navy Federal rates and incentives.

So I’ve signed the paperwork, gotten financing underway, paid my deposit in full.  Completed wiring on July 29th, and Rug Rite Appointment on August 17th (my bday….Happy Birthday to ME!).

My Pre-construction meeting will be Thursday August 22nd!

I’m so excited!!!!

I have lots of pictures and info about my selections….I just have to figure out how to create tabs….Ugh!!!
